There's a handwritten sign in the window of this Florence mainstay that says "no American food served". It's no lie, though judging from the laughing, friendly staff, it's more tongue in cheek than admonishment. But, to be sure, you ain't getting a well done steak, chicken fingers, or a blooming onion here.
Tagliatelle with Ragu of Wild Boar. Fried polenta with funghi. Tuscan bread soup. And of course, the Florentine steak! Massive, rare, and delicious beyond reason! There were some green beans and some potato's on the table too but meh, who cares. Go with the house red wine too, which in Italy is always good.
Finished up with a sublime chocolate and Nutella molten cake ( you know, I really don't like molten or lava cakes ordinarily but wow!) and a bottle of Limoncello placed on the table. All told we sat in this joint for over two hours and enjoyed the hell out of it.
Check came. About 109 euro or $115 American. Unreal! This is a $250 meal in the states easily! The 4 lb steak alone here was 40 euros give or take. In an American steakhouse? Forget it! Walk into Peter Lugers and ask for a 4 lb steak and it's $120. Sure it's fantastic and worth it, but this is just to show how cheap great eating can be in Italy.

This place is was so good..authentic old school Italy! Love the homey atmosphere. The waiters joked with staff. The food was delicious, but don't expect it in fast. Were given free after dinner shots! That Florentine steak was delicious!

This place was crazy fun. The energy is great and the food was quite tasty. The are very generous with the limoncello at the end or our favorite the homemade bay leaf liqueur (don't be scared to try it, if they have it!)
I think we had better meals but the experience put this on the top 5 of my favorites list for Florence. -

Kind of disappointed because I feel like this is very normal food. It was not bad, but I wouldn't say it's delicious. I have high expectations to the food based on all the good reviews.
I don't see why it is so popular.
